Cassidy is the stage name of Barry Adrian Reese. He was born on July 7, 1982 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cassidy received some fame after he won a freestyle battle with Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway. Cassidy recorded his first album, Split Personality in 2003. The record is divided into three parts: The first is credited to Cassidy and reflects his pop side, the second, credited as “Tha Problem,” aims at fans of his mixtapes and the third is credited to B. Reese from fans from his early days. In 2004, Cassidy released his second studio album, I’m a Hustla. It includes the singles I’m a Hustla and B-Boy Stance. It debuted at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200, with 93,000 copies sold in the first week. On January 24, 2006, Cassidy was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault for a local drive-by with Larsiny Family. Cassidy shot two people that night, and was sentenced to eleven-and-a-half to 23 months in jail and was credited with the 7 months he had already served. Cassidy was released from Pennsylvania’s Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on March 2, 2006 after serving eight months. After that he then went on to release his third studio album, B.A.R.S. Juanes is the stage name of Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez. He was born on August 9, 1972 in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia. He is the youngest child of Alicia Vásquez and Javier Aristizábal. His father called him “Juanes”, a contraction of “Juan” and “Esteban”, which he later used as an alias. In his early years, he used to stay for a season in Carolina del Príncipe, Antioquia, where he got a lot of influence through the traditional latin american music. During the 1980s and 1990s, Juanes was a member of heavy metal band Ekhymosis but disbanded the group in 1998 to pursue a solo career. His 2000 solo debut album, Fíjate Bien, had moderate commercial success and went on to win three Latin Grammy Awards. His second album, Un Día Normal, was certified platinum throughout much of the Spanish-speaking world, and its lead single “A Dios le Pido” topped singles charts in twelve countries. On September 28, 2004, Juanes released his third studio album, Mi Sangre. Juanes has since released two more albums which include La “Vida… Es un Ratico” in 2007 and “La Vida… Es un Ratico en Vivo” in 2008. Juanes is one of the best-selling Colombian musicians, having sold more than ten million albums and won seventeen Latin Grammys. Juanes is also known for his humanitarian work, especially with aid for Colombian victims of anti-personnel mines.
Jim Jones was born Joseph Guillermo Jones II on July 15, 1976. Jim Jones was born in The Bronx to a Puerto Rican father and a Aruban mother and grew up in Harlem. As a young boy he used to skate which inspired him to create Dip Skate, his skate team. Later Jones would join the 9 Trey Bloods gang. On August 24, 2004 Jim Jones released his debut album, On My Way to Church. It met with moderate success, peaking at number eighteen on the Billboard 200 and number four on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts. Jim Jones then capitalized on his debut album’s success with the release of his second studio album, Harlem: Diary of a Summer, on August 23, 2005. The album was released in three configurations including a DualDisc version which features the entire new album in LPCM Stereo, a brand-new Jim Jones documentary plus uncensored versions of some of his biggest videos. The album debuted and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 with 75,652 copies sold in the first week of release. The first single from Harlem: Diary of a Summer is “Baby Girl”. The single didn’t chart on the Billboard Hot 100, but it did manage to peak at #58 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Jim Jones has since released two more studio albums as well as starring in several films which include “State Property 2” and “Righteous Kill”.
Garth Brooks is an American country music artist who was born Troyal Garth Brooks on February 7, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In high school he played football and baseball and ran track. He received a track scholarship to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he competed in the javelin. Garth Brooks graduated in 1984 with a degree in advertising. Later that year, Brooks began his professional music career, singing and playing guitar in Oklahoma clubs and bars. In 1985, noted entertainment attorney Rod Phelps drove from Dallas to listen to Garth Brooks play. Phelps liked what he heard and offered to produce Garth’s first demo. In 1989 Garth Brooks would release his self titled debut album. It peaked at #2 in the U.S. Country chart and made #13 on the Billboard 200. It went on to sell close to 10 million copies worldwide. Garth Brooks has since gone on to release eight more studio albums, four compilation albums, one live album and fifty three singles. He has also released twenty three music videos. The RIAA have certified Garth Brooks’ albums at one hundred and twenty eight times Multi-Platinum. Six of his albums have achieved Diamond status in the U.S.. His total world-wide sales are estimated at 140 million.
